Why We Need More Women in Leadership – The Importance of Women Leading

The future is female. According to research, more women on their boards outperform those without women, and organizations with great gender diversity are more profitable. Unfortunately, it’s sad to say that women are still underrepresented in leadership positions.

Let’s face the reality, we need more women to be leaders. It’s not just good for women but for the business. In this blog, we will tell you why and how the business benefits from more women in leadership and what’s the importance of women in leadership.

What is the Number One Problem Facing Women Today in the Corporate Sector?

First of all, men are the majority. We can all say that most of the corporate sector is male-dominated. You walk into a meeting and most people in the room are men. However, this also creates an opportunity for women to stand out and create a long-lasting impression.

Secondly, there is difficulty in creating supportive networks. In many organizations, men are still threatened by women working above them which causes complex issues, causing unstable networking and communication barriers.

Lastly, women aren’t expected to do well at work. They are expected to stay home and manage their house. Moreover, expecting this from women can often lead to demotivation and depression in women not feeling supported.

The Advantages of Having Women Leaders in Business:

For centuries, we have talked about leadership and all sorts of leadership styles. However, we didn’t talk about the importance of women in leadership, we talked about men in leadership positions.

We can all agree, women leaders defeat many workplace barriers that are caused by gender biases and they are exceptional role models.

Diversity:

From gender to culture to age to race, women bring in diversity in all forms. Bringing additional inspiring ideas and fostering innovation. With different life experiences of men and women, they approach business decisions differently.

In order for a business to thrive, an environment needs to be open-minded and not gender biased towards men and women. Moreover, there needs accountable communication and execution which is vital.

Test each other to the test and work together with whatever knowledge you have and bring in diverse perspectives. Similarly, this can foster creativity and lead to breakthrough innovations that drive business growth.

Economic Force and Valuable Consumer Insight:

According to Harvard Business Review in 2009, they said that women accounted for about $20 trillion in consumer expenditure which makes them a more potential market expansion including both China and India put together.

Women are a powerful source of change. They bring change where necessary. They have an ethical decision-making structure.

Women Demonstrate Superior Leadership Values:

It has been researched that women have superior leadership values. Moreover, women are ranked as more honest than men. In terms of intelligence, 38% view women to be smart, with only 14% indicating men are smarter.

Furthermore, women are more compassionate towards their work which leads to ethical decision-making and a steady flow of creativity.

Communication Well Done:

Women are known to be excellent communicators. And, having communication skills are one of the most important skills for an employee or entrepreneur to have.

Similarly, being able to communicate your thoughts and opinions is an excellent skill to have in a workplace.

Women in Leadership Roles Can Close the Gender Pay Gap:

Even in 2023, we can that there is an unfair gender pay gap across the world. In some countries, women working is still looked at as a stereotype. That is why, women working and becoming leaders in organizations will eventually close the gender pay gap.

And, for women to be working in a women-led organization can be motivating and encouraging to mitigate the stereotype.
