Are you a remote team? Are you looking for ways to improve your team’s collaboration and communication?
Then virtual team-building activities are for you!
When it comes to remote teams, the biggest challenge is getting a group of people who do not work in the same place to feel like they are working together as a team.
Why do We Need Virtual Team Building Activities?
Remote teams face unique challenges when it comes to collaboration and communication. When there is no physical space to share ideas, it can be hard to know where to start. Virtual meeting tools like Zoom make it easier than ever, but trust is still missing.
When you are not in the same room as someone else, how do you know they are telling the truth? How do you know if they are honest about their work?
How do you know if your teammates are working as hard as possible?
That is where these exercises come in! By putting people through simulations that test their ability to work together and communicate clearly, we can build trust within our teams so that everyone knows what they should be doing and why they need each other to succeed.
Easy and Effective Virtual Team Building Activities for Remote Teams:
Virtual team building activities are a great way to keep remote team members connected, engaged, and motivated. If you are wondering how to get started, here are some ideas.
- Have everyone share a video of themselves answering the question, “Why do you love your job?”
- Have everyone share a video of themselves answering the question, “What is one thing you have learned from working with this team?”
- Take turns interviewing each other about what they have learned from their career, but only ask questions that have no right or wrong answers. Do not give them time to think about it—just let them answer as quickly as possible!
- Have someone draw a picture of the team and then explain what it means to them in two sentences or less.
- Ask everyone on the team to tell you something they have done recently that makes them proud. Then, pick one person’s story and write an article about it on LinkedIn while having them read over your shoulder (make sure they know ahead of time that this will happen).
